School ID Cards in Essendon
Printing ID Cards for Essendon Primary School Staff
We were asked to produce a set of staff ID cards for a primary school in Essendon, Hertfordshire, ready for the start of a new term. The job covered twenty cards for teachers and other members of staff, each printed on CR80 credit card sized plastic stock. This is the standard size most schools and workplaces use, as it fits neatly into a lanyard holder or wallet.
Rather than starting from scratch, we edited one of our existing school ID card printing templates to suit the school’s requirements. There were no artwork issues to resolve, which kept things straightforward once we had the information we needed from the school office.
As this project involved photographs of individual staff members, we have used placeholder images and text throughout this case study to protect their privacy.

Matching the School’s Branding
Colour matching mattered on this job. The school wanted the cards to reflect their existing branding, and we also had to match this against our stock plain red lanyards so the finished sets looked consistent when worn. We checked colours carefully before printing to make sure the cards and lanyards worked together properly, rather than clashing or looking like an afterthought.
Lanyards and cards are often ordered separately, but getting the colours right across both at the same time is what makes a set look like it belongs to one organisation. For schools in particular, where staff are visible to parents, visitors and pupils every day, this consistency is worth getting right. Anyone looking at options for their own setup can see more on our custom lanyards for schools and businesses in Hertfordshire page.

Turnaround and Timing
The job took approximately seven to ten days from start to finish. Most of that time went into gathering staff information and photographs from the school, rather than the printing itself. Once we had everything we needed, producing twenty cards to a consistent standard was a quick job.
The timing was driven by the start of a new school term, so staff needed their cards ready before pupils returned. This is a common pattern with school ID card printing, as staff changes and new starters tend to cluster around September and January, meaning schools often need a batch produced in a fairly short window.

Delivery and Reorders
Everything was delivered directly to the school in Essendon, Hertfordshire, with no need to split the order across multiple sites. The whole job was handled as a single delivery once the cards and lanyards were ready.
Since the initial order, the school has come back to us for additional cards as new members of staff have joined, which suggests the first batch did its job well.
