Menteith (spelled Monteith in this page’s address) is the district around the Lake of Menteith, in the old county of Perthshire and now in the Stirling council area. Port of Menteith is the only significant settlement on the lake. It was made a burgh of barony in 1457 by James III, and its parish had 768 people at the 2001 census, with outlying settlements at Cobleland, Dykehead, Gartmore and Ruskie.
